>>> Weekly Update for 9/21/2025
What have I read, watched, listened to, and considered this week? Here's a selection:
Books:
- Stephen King's 11/22/63. Finished! Like I mentioned in the previous post, my favorite parts of the book were when I became immersed in the historical setting and forgot about the time travel aspect. One final note: I never would've read this book without my girlfriend gifting it to me. Thanks babe.
- Philosophy of Science: A Very Short Introduction by Samir Okasha. No progress this week.
- Samuel Johnson: Selected Works, edited by DeMaria, Fix, & Weinbrot. My favorite essay this week was the Idler no. 27 (on the failure of resolutions).
Podcasts:
- David Commins on the Conversations with Tyler podcast. I was pleasantly suprised by this episode. My knowledge of the Islamic world is pretty weak, so Commins' insight into the region's history was useful. For me, the most fascinating piece was the discussion of the Grand Mosque seizure in 1979, an event I had never heard of.
